RAILCYCLES are four-wheeled cycles that each carry two pedallers.  Some are equipped for small children in rear seats.  No balance is needed.  This is a quiet exercise activity, an opportunity to enjoy nature.  Maximum weight for front seats is 300 lbs, rear (children's) seats, 50 lbs each.  Sturdy footwear is required, no sandals, open, strap-backed or slip-on shoes.  Children must be 10 years old to pedal.  Each round-trip is approximately 3 hours.  Shorter runs and group charters can be arranged.  Family rate available.  Reservations are required:  Contact gardenvariety25@gmail.com or call 207.568.3523.  Allow several days advance notice as this is an all-volunteer organization and each excursion requires two volunteers. See the MAP page of this website to locate the cycle depot in Thorndike Village, directly across from Garden Variety.  RAILCYCLES!  is an activity of the Brooks Preservation Society, a not-for-profit, 501-c3 organization dedicated to the preservation of historic landmarks, the tracks and trains in our neighboring towns.
