Jack's Garden. Only a few hayfields away, tucked behind the exhibition hall at Maine Organic Farmers' and Gardeners' Educational Facility, Jack Kertesz quietly tends a remarkable garden in the most sustainable style.  Jack calls it Robin Hood Gardening, in that he uses the rich nutrients of pulled "weeds" to layer, mulch and enrich the surrounding areas of poorer soil.  He looks for self-seeding varieties of plants, and, despite harsh Maine winters,  his work results in lush plots of kale, collards, garlic, onions, wild spinach, day lilies, sunflowers and even tomatoes.  www.mofga.org
Bryant's Stove Works, Doll Circus & Music Museum.  A melange of antiquities including wood and coal burning stoves, some fit for a palace; a doll circus that comes to life at the flip of a switch; calliopes, pump organs and musical oddities that stretch the imagination; quilts and buttons; local lore.
